Private House, Pen y Lan Road

This project to the rear of a Victorian home in the Pen y Lan conservation area aims to create a unified space for dining and cooking, placing an emphasis on reconnecting the existing internal spaces to the garden. A new modest extension along the side return provides a new space for preparing food and an opening made in the existing wall connects the kitchen to a new larger dining space. A wall of joinery provides ample storage and an elemental rhythm along the length of the room. A new picture window is inserted, puncturing the joinery on the return to frame views of a refurbished garden.

All new joinery, doors (cat flap) and windows are designed in collaboration with a local carpenter and the Architect.
