Located within the Dulwich Estate within the leafy Wood Park area of Crystal Palace, this proposal replaces an original utility and bin store with a new lightweight infill extension with alterations to the rest of the house that retain the essence of this fine example of mid century domestic architecture by the firm Austin Vernon and Partners.
The project is unified by a single thinly detailed sedum blanketed roof. The open elongated plan allows for subtle links to be drawn between a series of interstitial exterior and interior spaces that step down through the plot. Contemporary materials of marble, steel and glass sit well within this context and are further complimented with warmer materials in the more domestic spaces of the home.
Great care has been taken to marry the clients tastes and desires with a series of appropriate alterations that elevate the ideals and aspirations contained within the original design for these homes.
